Fighting hunger in Delaware!

Volunteers Pack 1,080 Meals for Hungry Children

December 07 2016 | Chadds Ford, PA

In Delaware, hunger is a daily concern for 1 out of every 5 children. For these kids, actual meals may only be available at school. To ensure they have something to eat at the end of the day, eight Flagship volunteers spent November 29 at the Food Bank of Delaware packing “backpack” meals for children to take home.

For three hours, EVP, Christina Hsieh, EVP, Jeff Haymore VP, George Ewing, RSM, Michelle Tatham, Business Analytics Supervisor, Karimah Ryans, Treasury Analyst, Kelly Cassaboon, Marketing Specialist II, Jessica Drinkwater, and Sales Support Representative, Bobby DeCarlo, stuffed juices, milk, cereal, beef stew, macaroni & cheese, and fruit cups into bags for children in need. By noon, the team completed over two and a half pallets, or 1,080 backpack meals. Pretty impressive! Especially considering most teams complete less than two pallets in that time.

The Food Bank of Delaware is just one of many Flagship partners within our new Volunteer Initiative. You are encouraged to use your VTO hours, and discover how much of an enjoyable and fulfilling experience volunteering can be. Taking the time to give back to your community can be a fun way of building a team environment and creating a wholesome culture at work.

About the Food Bank of Delaware

The Food Bank of Delaware, a member of Feeding America, formerly America’s Second Harvest, is a statewide nonprofit agency whose vision is a community free of hunger. The Food Bank’s beginnings can be found at Westminster Presbyterian Church where Retha Fisher, Director of Community Services, formed a Food Closet Study Committee in 1977 to help improve the church’s hunger-relief efforts. Four years later Food Conservers, Inc., was established (name later changed to the Food Bank of Delaware). We have grown from humble beginnings as an organization who served 50 agencies out of a basement in the Northeast State Social Service Center in Wilmington to a statewide hunger-relief organization with operations in both Newark and Milford. Today we are the only facility in Delaware with the equipment, warehouse and staff to collect donations from all sectors of the food industry and safely and efficiently redistribute them to those who need it most.

Our Lending Philosophy

A borrower is more than just a credit score. At Flagship, we focus on the story behind the customer …and look beyond the number.

Life happens. Whether low credit scores are a result of past circumstances, one-time events or just bad luck, Flagship offers multi-tiered pricing structures to finance borrowers across the credit spectrum.

At Flagship we believe a borrower’s credit past shouldn’t dictate their future.

Many borrowers need a second chance. We recognize the vast majority of persons with credit challenges are working hard to re-establish their credit rating. Each of our Credit Analysts are trained in "common sense" lending, a philosophy of reviewing all the circumstances and determining the appropriate deal structure for the specific borrower situation. Flagship maintains a very high standard regarding  Fair Lending compliance, ensuring our customers are always treated professionally and consistently.
